Mt. Eden Art Gallery Enhancement
$6,800
Mt. Eden High School received $6,800 to enhance its student art gallery, a space where students gain hands-on experience curating, displaying, and presenting artwork while learning real-world gallery management skills. Funding provided professional gallery furnishings, including display pedestals, rolling art racks, and a digital display frame, creating a more engaging exhibition space for student artists. The gallery also serves as a community gathering place where students, staff, families, and visitors can celebrate student creativity and achievement.
Cherryland Peace Garden Mural Project
$3,200
Cherryland Elementary received $3,200 to create a Peace Garden and student-designed mural that transforms an underused outdoor space into a welcoming area for reflection, peer mediation, and restorative conversations. Students partnered with artists, volunteers, and community members to design and paint a mural featuring messages of kindness, respect, and belonging. The project supports students’ social-emotional well-being, encourages positive behavior, and provides a lasting space for connection, conflict resolution, and school pride.

Many Hands, One Masterpiece
$4,725
A pilot program in partnership with the Sun Gallery and Hayward Rotary, benefiting 860 second-grade students from 11 Hayward elementary schools: East Avenue Elementary, Eden Gardens Elementary, Eldridge Elementary, Fairview Elementary, Faith Ringgold Elementary, Longwood Elementary, Palma Ceia Elementary, Park Elementary Ruus Elementary, Southgate Elementary, and Stonebrae Elementary. Students engaged with original artwork from the 35th Annual Book Illustrator Exhibition, participated in guided discussions about storytelling and visual interpretation, and created artwork of their own in the gallery’s studio space. For many children, it marked their first experience inside a professional art gallery environment.
